Meet Julian Bond
British born and trained, Julian Bond’s career began in Barnsley , England where he attended Culinary College graduating with honours. Chef Julian having honed his culinary skills and education in England working at several notable British restaurants was enticed by CP Hotels (now Fairmont Hotels) to leave the fare Isle. In 1993 Chef Julian moved to Alberta to train apprentice chefs at the Kananaskis Hotel. Moving West in 1995 Chef Julian became part of the opening team for Vancouver restaurant, Star Anise. He soon became Executive Chef & Co-owner of the award-winning hotspot. Five years later Chef moved on to design and open Oritalia at the Sheraton Le Soleil which also received international acclaim.
At the turn of the millennium Chef Julian made a seemingly natural career move, accepting the position of Director of Culinary Programs at Dubrulle International Culinary & Hotel Institute of Canada which during his tenure underwent a multi-million dollar relocation and rebranding under the umbrella of The Art Institute of Vancouver. Recruited yet again in 2005 Chef joined Test Kitchen of Cactus Club Café Restaurants. Here Chef Julian again combined his passion for teaching and his eye for detail in their 16 kitchens. Fall 2007, Julian’s love of teaching brought him back to school to work with Sue Singer at Pacific Institute of Culinary Arts as Executive Chef & Program Director.
